Strong & Precious Advocates for Ukraine Amidst Ongoing Strife

In response to the enduring impact of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the Strong & Precious Art Foundation has emerged as a dedicated initiative, championing the preservation of Ukraine’s rich jewelry heritage. Founded by Olga Oleksenko, a prominent jewelry connoisseur and former Van Cleef & Arpels boutique director in Kyiv, the foundation is committed to spotlighting the historical roots and craftsmanship of the Ukrainian jewelry school that has flourished for centuries.
Olga Oleksenko’s recent statement emphasizes the foundation’s dual commitment: not only to showcase contemporary Ukrainian designers but also to revisit the recognition of established names and workshops that have contributed significantly to Ukraine’s jewelry legacy. The goal is to celebrate the past while offering a platform for emerging Ukrainian jewelers to express their talents and perspectives in the present.
Despite the global festivities marking the end of one year and the beginning of another, Olga sheds light on the harsh reality faced by many in Ukraine, stating, “The most beautiful time of the year—the holiday season that ends one year and welcomes a new one— has recently passed, with many around the world celebrating and enjoying the festivities. It is a beautiful escape from reality for most, yet very few of those in my home country of Ukraine could enjoy the same peace and joy as others. Most did not have a safe place to escape from the war.” The conflict, often overlooked, persists with recent escalations in violence. Olga’s plea serves as a poignant reminder that the world must remain vigilant and engaged with the ongoing crisis.
Olga’s statement continues with a stark reminder that the war in Ukraine persists, with recent escalations in violence, “As a Ukrainian, I want to remind the world that the war in Ukraine is not over, even though the world seems to have forgotten it, or is perhaps choosing to turn a blind eye to what is still happening. Now, the war is taking a turn for the worse. During the first days of the new year, Russia bombed Ukrainian cities every day—targeting civilians. At the same time, the U.S. remains highly uncertain about passing vital military aid to Ukraine.” She remarks, “During a time of vulnerability, with another war happening between Hamas and Israel, we must not allow the Russian terrorist state to take advantage of this situation. Now, more than ever, we need to stand behind Ukraine. We are not only protecting Ukraine’s borders, but also European borders. If Ukraine is alone in this fight, then the enemy will reach other countries too.”
In a call to action, Strong & Precious urges individuals to join in amplifying the message and raising awareness about the critical need for aid to Ukraine. Olga believes that collective efforts can make a meaningful impact, contributing to a more secure and hopeful future for the people of Ukraine.
